Excel question - staying in the same area to select two cells

I need Excel help from qualified monkeys. I don't know if this is the right forum, but here we go.

Is there a way to stay in the same area when you want to reference another cell nearby?

I think it is best explained with an example. Say you have a long vertical model. At the bottom of the model, where you are currently working, you want to show the sum of cell A1 and A2 (all the way at the top), so the formula is "=A1+A2".

However, when you have entered "=A1" and hit plus, you are sent back to the bottom of the model, and have to work your way up again to select A2. So, my question is: is there a way to hit "+" but stay in the area to easily select cell A2?
