Bronxville in westchester is the most prestigious. Can't trace your lineage to the mayflower? Good luck getting a realtor to show you a home. Google the holy square mile.
Honestly though, most prestigious places are areas where people are not commuting to work(because truly powerful and rich people don't have to work). Hamptons, Jackson hole, sun Valley, palm beach.....those are the real prestigious type places, not some nyc bedroom community in Fairfield country where net worth 10mm cucks take the damn train to their finance job while being told what to do by their masters who throw sex orgy parties in their mansion in wyoming.
As someone that lives in Westchester--perhaps where A2 mentioned--I can safely say this is almost on the mark. Bronxville, however, is very 'old money'. Like Tom Ford suits and shiny white luxury cars? Maybe a wife with brands plastered all over her purse/clutch? Well... you're out. This area will not socially accept you. Head a bit more north to CT where those qualities are now more and more valued.
On the top of the absolute top, prestigious places. I'm going to throw something a bit more non-traditional. Nantucket. Most folks that live there only commute into the NYC area via their private plane. Delta flys from ACK -> LGA? Oops! Looks like you drew a 'I don't belong here' card. Go straight to a converted 2br -> 3br apt in Murray Hill until you hit mid 8 figures after-tax. Most of the folks with homes there also own an apt in Manhattan. Not some pied-a-terre per a Compass joker-broker, but a full-scale co-op apt.
Thanks for coming to my TED Talk/shit post.
Exactly what I meant about bronxville. This is old money classy prestige. No ostentatious displays of wealth. Do not buy a lambo there and expect to be accepted into the social circles.
Honestly everyone I've met from there is a great person.
Bronxville high campus and building is nicer than most ivy leagues schools. And its public.
I'm from Fairfield County originally and it has a lot of name recognition in the city and beyond, but I think the one downside is that it's not as close to the city as Westchester. Greenwich / Darien are a pretty manageable commute, but if you're farther up north the commute time really adds up. If I move out to the burbs I'm seriously considering Westchester.
The correct answer is none of the above. If you don't have the money to buy an apartment on billionaires' row or a townhouse in the UES or UWS, you were not in the prestige conversation to begin with.
Only the POORS move to Greenwich or Port Washington instead of a billionaires row penthouse. Only LOSERS live in the UES outside of 10021.
Inb4 OP asks what area code is most prestigious
Clearly a cuck, everyone knows 10075 is where its at.
darien/greenwich/new caanan/westport all prestiege af and shit on everything else who mad 8)
Check out NJ A lot of really nice areas closer than Connecticut or westchester Bergen County north of the GW bridge but south of the ny state border has a lot of nice towns with a lot of famous people as well. Bill Hwang lives in Tenafly, NJ.
Bergen county? Lol
Gross. Theres too many non wasps and immigrants there.
