Finance Academy Summer Program vs. Summer Analyst Position
After getting passed over for a lot of interviews with BBs and the big name MMs, I'm considering taking a four week I-Banking summer program in Switzerland that is supposedly taught by VPs and MDs at big name NYC firms. It features rigorous academics (nine hours of class per day, plus several hours of group work). Would this be a suitable replacement for a summer analyst position when it comes time for the FT job search, or should I keep looking at smaller IB firms just so I can get the experience of working at an investment bank and the words "Investment Banking Summer Analyst" on my resume?
blatant "Swiss Finance Academy" trolling
summer analyst is infinitely more valuable.
assuming this is a real question, here's your answer:
if you really want to get experience in investment banking, get an internship. even if the coursework is rigorous, you wont get deal experience. if you're not familiar with the technical aspects, buy wallstreetprep, dealmaven, etc. and complete that in your spare time. it only costs $500 as opposed to thousands.
