Financial sponsors (relationship driven) working hours?

I want to know what typical hours for an A1 FSG role would entail? I am anticipating an offer soon and want to know what to expect. Good MM FSG (purely relationship focused). Anyone with experience let’s chat - thanks!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are insights into the working hours for Financial Sponsors Group (FSG) roles:

  1. General Working Hours:

    • Smaller EB/MM/Regional Banks: These banks tend to have fewer resources, which means more responsibility for each individual. This can lead to longer hours compared to larger banks.
    • Larger Banks: The hours can vary significantly. Some posts suggest that FSG bankers at larger banks might work minimal hours for the same titles and pay as execution roles, but this is highly situational.
  2. Specific Banks:

    • MS/CS FSG: These groups do involve modeling, and the hours might be similar to other groups, potentially leading to long working hours.
  3. Lifestyle and Culture:

    • Smaller Organizations: Due to fewer bodies in seats, there is more responsibility, which can translate to longer hours.
    • Larger Organizations: There might be a perception of FSG being a "sleepy place to work," but this can vary widely depending on the specific bank and team.

In summary, while the hours can vary, expect longer hours at smaller banks due to higher individual responsibility. Larger banks might offer more variability in hours, but this is not guaranteed. Always consider the specific bank and team culture when anticipating your working hours.
