First Year Analyst - Feeling like Quasi-Intern

I started as a first year analyst about 6 weeks ago and I am feeling like I do not add much value to the team. I was wondering when you start to take more ownership of your projects / tasks without specific instructions from 2nd year analysts / associates (i.e. not having them build out a PPT shell for you, show you an Excel template).

Obviously, I understand that this is a part of the learning process but I want to make sure i'm not falling behind lol - just feels like I am still a glorified intern!

Any advice or guidance from past experience would be helpful. Is this how it feels in the beginning? Just a weird feeling.

Thanks

An intern is still an intern after 6 weeks. In fact after a ten week internship an intern will still need guiding and probably for the first while after they start full time if they get an offer. I wouldn’t worry mate. If it’s 6 months down the line and you’re still in that situation then you’d have reason for concern.
Enjoy it brother, and best of luck.
