FOR RX BANKERS: How Accurate is theDeal?
I'm looking at the quarterly rankings based on LTM deal flow, and I just wanted to ask what does everyone think?

Not very, do not think it considered out of court, deal size, or actual revenue generated from fees if I remember
There are separate league tables for out of court, but I'm unsure how they make the rankings
There are worse sources, although OOC league tables should be taken with a grain of salt since FAs are not always disclosed publicly.
Ex Rx here but still working in relevant field. Those league tables aren't worth much for reasons repeated ad nauseum.
PJT and Evercore are winning most major mandates, with lazard very relevant in retail. Moelis also doing very well and Perella will land some big ones too albeit less frequently (mostly a function of their size).
HL is also a highly entrenched name with overall very high deal flow (they are much larger than the other groups mentioned) and expectedly will reach further down market while also having some high quality mandates too - they are, by nature of their size, a volume oriented shop.
So are you saying the EB RX firms have a focus on whale hunting, while others like HL are more focused on volume?
HL has always been a creditor volume shop. They have like 5x as many people as any other Rx group.
Would you say those names you listed are seen as the top shops?
Best way to rank Rx groups.
1) PJT
1A) EVR, HL (NY)
1B) HL (LA), Moelis, Lazard
2A) PWP(Tier 2 banks 2A, 2B are pretty similiar, but brand name for PWP puts it ahead)
2B) Ducera, CVP
3A) Jefferies, GLC, Gugg, TRS
4) Else
Worth to say that any Rx group will be solid. The "Tier 3" and above groups will still get you interviews at some of the best distressed / credit shops.
Currently working at one of the above groups as an Associate, and would slightly modify to what I’ve noticed across pitches and general market (advisor landscape / investor universe) sentiment:
1) PJT, EVR, MOE: some are better positioned for certain mandates versus others, but generally speaking are the three most successful groups at the moment, all things considered
2) HL, PWP, LAZ: again, some better than others in certain spaces (e.g., HL crushes MM debtor / creditor work, particularly in niche spaces) but these three shops will generally get the call to pitch against the Tier 1 groups - sometimes they win, other times they don’t
3) CVP, Ducera, GUGG, TRS, ROTHS, GHILL: each of these shops are a solid step down from the Tier 1 and Tier 2 shops, but largely as it relates on a franchise basis. The Tier 3 shops still each have one or two rock star senior bankers each (e.g., Neil at GHILL, Genereux at TRS) who can compete on an individual basis with the Tier 1 and 2 shops - the group as a whole just cannot
