former JPM NY IBD SAs - resume book

Are summer analyst resume books circulated at JPM (NY-IBD) to summer analysts? If so, does HR allow us to send in a separate resume for inclusion into the book? Thanks.

No, there is no resume book circulated to summer analysts. If I submit my resume to a company for consideration, its not an open invitation to share my personal information with all of my peers. Why would they need to show the other interns everyone else's resumes?

And I have no idea what you're talking about.... submitting a separate resume for inclusion in this book.

Although, I'm not sure about JPM, banks do circulate summer analyst resume books. Marcus, he's referring to a book with the resumes of the current summer analyst class. They do it for summer associates as well along with FT analysts/associates.

I think for FT they might allow you to send in a new resume, but for summer they just use the one you sent. Why does it matter if you already got the internship and the full time offer?

They also ask you for pictures.

The world has changed. And we must change with it.

I wasn't at JPM, but at another BB... where they didn't do this. I assumed they didn't do this at all, since IMO it makes absolutely no sense.

Did you mean do they circulate your resume to people in charge of extending FT offers, or bring people from the summer class in for FT interviews?

Or literally giving every summer analyst a copy of everyone else's resume?

I would think there are millions of way to keep people connected other than sharing everyone's resumes... considering how much bullshit goes into a resume in the first place, its not exactly something you look at to really get to know someone.

They gave every summer analyst a book filled with pictures and the respective resumes of the entire class. They removed important things like GPA & SAT scores.

For associates, they wrote out their backgrounds (spend 5 years in as an engineer in india for Tata Consulting, got an MBA from Stanford, this past summer he was an associate for company XYZ).

Marcus H: yea they literally compile everyones resumes slap on pics and bind it into a book to give out to all the interns. Two of my friends one at Citi and the other at Lehman made a big deal about it because they didnt understand what the purpose was and HR gave them both a lot of shit. they were anal about it

OKay, there is a more practical purpose.

In Hong Kong, all the big BB banks pass around these resume books from HR to HR at different firms. This is standard, common practice. From these resume books, other BB's HRs can choose to extend an invitation to a cocktail reception or other forms of networking events. If they like you, they give you an interview.

Other firms, by agreement, can only extend offers two weeks after you hear back from your original firm regarding FT.
