Freshman internship in top IBs

I am an upcoming freshman at UF (not the biggest target school) majoring in Finance and hopefully getting an MSF. I really want to get an internship at a top investment bank (Goldman Sachs, jp Morgan etc..) in my first year. I have been working in the summer to get a wall street prep certificate and an excel certificate. In the fall, im also looking forward to joining an investment club and even a professional frat. I will make sure to also keep my gpa high. After all of that, what else can I do to guarantee an internship in my freshman year or is it impossible?

It’s impossible for you. Nondiversity and non target. I can only name 3 firms that even have sophomore IB programs let alone freshmen ones. If I were you, I’d focus my efforts on finding some small boutique. Still a great way to gain experience, especially as a freshmen. Also, I would remove your real name and picture of yourself from your profile.

Thank you so much. I have some questions; What do you mean by non diverse, is it mainly race or what aspect? Also is it because its an IB internship? Do I have higher chances of getting an internship if its a different role? Should I still apply to many other IBs and test my luck so i could get some experience for later? Thank you about the name and picture advice, Im still new to this. Thank you

Even extreme nepotism wouldn’t be able to get you a FRESHMEN IB internship at a BB if you’re both non target and nondiversity.

yes you need some level of nepotism but i've seen people get into a freshmen IB internship at BB as a non diversity but they did go to target and semi target level schools. it's very rare and you will rarely ever be in those circles to hear about it

I actually pulled this off for my freshman summer from a non-target. What I did was show up to Goldman Sachs downtown office everyday after class and wait there in a suit and tie to strike up a conversation with some bankers. Eventually after a few months I built a good relationship with a VP who gave me an offer. Just be persistent and anything is possible
