when does one normally get the sign on? Say you are starting in early July, when will you get the 10-15k? (or do you normally start in June?)

i think hk bonus are pretty high too, from my limited sources, you get paid pretty much the same level of bonus (at least at the junior levels). coupled in with the low tax ~17% (if you are not a US citizen) gives you a pretty damn good deal.

Yeah, HK and Singapore give you housing stipends for 2.5K a month. It's a sweet deal actually.

some hk firms have cancelled their housing bonus, confirmed.

word on the street is, the firms who don't pay the housing bonus will pay a higher year end bonus to make that number look better.

However, I have heard from friends at BB AM divisions that are receiving 70+10 (GSAM and JPAM in particular).

GSAM and JPAM are AM divisions in BBs, not AM firms.

hey clueless banking, do you know which firms cancelled their housing? does that apply to all the levels from analyst to mds?

I dont know where you guys are hearing your hk stipend numbers but i have confirmed ML, MS, GS, Nomura-Lehman, have all canceled stipends since end of 08. This is for the junior levels. Senior levels depending on place / status have diff packages - from schooling to housing etc.

BB IBD - 70k base, 10k sign on (to be received in April-May, ostensibly for relocation).

Also, friend who just signed with boutique will be getting 70k base, 15k sign on.

Which BB are giving 15k sign on, and which ones are giving early signing bonus?

I heard Blackrock is now offering 70+10 signing, right up there with the rest.
