Full time offer but not excited anymore
Just wanted to see who here feels the same way as me. Interned at a BB last summer, and accepted the FT offer to start this July. I remember when I received my offer for summer analyst, I was ecstatic to start. However, now its not the same anymore. If anything, I'm dreading starting work. Any other incoming analysts share this feeling?
Any motivational words to get me excited again?
Stress might be the reason why you are feeling that way. Maybe when you start going to the office you can feel the excitement again.
Getting paid to work instead of paying school to do homework?
How was your experience as an intern? If that was terrible, maybe that's why you're anxious.
I had a pretty brutal summer but because I was so excited to be there (partly from reading WSO too much and getting hyped up), the hours didn't seem as bad. But looking back, banking isn't as "cool" as I thought it was, so now the hours and the work will be a major drag. Oh well, still very thankful to get a job in this market so I won't complain. Really looking forward to training tho. Heard its an absolute blast.
Is this serious? Listening to countless dull speakers all saying the same thing over and over again to the point that you start clawing at your eyeballs out of sheer boredom.
Sitting through dreary basic finance/accounting courses.
Being videotaped while participating in ridiculous team-building activities and being forced to watch it afterwards and awkwardly comment on what your peers, whom you barely know, did wrong.
Being constantly watched by hr who won't hesitate for a second to call you out in a room with over 100 people if you so much as check your phone or slouch back in your chair.
Tests that must be passed on the first try in order to remain employed.
What part of this sounds like an absolute blast?
(On a side note, getting out at 5 and the "networking events" are pretty awesome. )
I'm pretty sure the last line was the only thing that he was referencing. When you know you will have little to no free time to actually go out, leaving at 5 and drinking/bonding with your analyst class is considered a blast. No shit the actual training sucks...
Is what you just described more or less the same across all BBs? I hope not...
Is this FO position?
I recommend you stop being such a faggot. You're in the back seat.
I feel the same exact way, but perhaps it's more because I realized this past year that I don't think I want to do banking or finance long term.
Funny thing is I absolutely loved my group and had a great summer - probably wouldn't have gone back if either of those weren't the case.

Lol. Yea its FO.
second one's best GnT
You shouldn't feel excited. You've done it before, you know it sucks, but it's time to grit your teeth and get it over with. It was exciting the first time because you didn't know what to expect- now you do.
If you haven't already, start networking with post IB employers. Training is a great time to start doing informational interviews, grabbing coffee, etc. You won't have that much free time again.
Cowboy up, you got 2 years left.
Threads like this make me feel so much better about myself
This thread makes me want to kill myself....

I don't know which one sounds worse.
Really? I know a 100 people who'd kill to take your position right now, including myself.
Man up or GTFO. Simple as that.
