Gen Z - How come you guys don't use Microsoft Word?
How come some of these Summer Analyst kids don't have a habit of using Microsoft Word.
Wtf have you guys been using all these years, and why?

Not Gen Z, but I hate Word. The worst part about debt / equity transactions is using that stupid program for the OM / S-1. Everything is so clunky compared to PPT and it runs slow and formatting is difficult. Google docs is also better if it needs to be something written long-form, then at least you can edit live / comment with other people.
i've never had to do that - isn't that done in normal word/email then sent to counsel?
We are more accustomed to using Google Docs. This is because our teachers often required us to collaborate on projects in middle school and high school. Google Docs provided a convenient way to share our work with group members and work on the same document. I also find using Google Drive more convenient than searching through my computer files for Word documents.
Used Google Docs for documents all through middle school and high school. Also used Google Slides and Google Sheets instead of Powerpoint and Excel for all of those years.
Agree with the other guy who also mentioned google docs. Back in middle school my district gave all the kids chromebooks to use for assignments and they based the whole system around google classroom, drive and docs so thats what a lot of us are used to now. Even now in college I still primarily use docs even tho I have access to word
Just an incredibly clunky platform compared to the other Microsoft office products. We also used google docs k-12 and in university for collaboration.
Like everyone has said we used docs. With Microsoft 365 you can actually edit with people at the same time so that's cool. I've made a conscious effort to only use Word since college as it's the business standard
I use it because of the auto save feature. It's also the most accessible in terms of group editing. I guess OneDrive is good too, but they were bad at marketing in my formative years lol. I do prefer office/onedrive for Excel and Powerpoint though.
Microsoft paint or Notepad
I wonder if it's possible to write a script where all your financial models convert to a shitty-drawn microsoft paint document with weird colors and scribbles
Disagree with those above me who support Docs. Docs sucks for everything except for the fact you can "collaborate"... Word is way better for typesetting (like equations for finance equations), image placement/cropping and custom formatting. I only would use Docs if i need to type a body of text in Arial lol.
Lol why Arial specifically
It's the default font for Docs
Ever since office 365 has given me the option to collab with people through the desktop app I have only used word. I was never a big fan of any google equivalent (docs, slides, sheets) because they lacked a lot of functionality.
Growing up our school district got chromebook and everything was done on google apps. Also collaborating on docs and slides was extremely useful as group projects have become more and more common (were they not before? idk)
They use it because of https://classroom.google.com/ . Google did a great job in supplying services to schools.
It's genius what they did tbh. They raised an entire generation to be accustomed to their product. We'll still have to use Office in the professional world though.
Why don't you pull them to your desk, and just spend 10 mintues of your precious time to teach them?
Gen Z here. Am I the only impoverished cuck who had to use some variation of outdated Microsoft Word growing up? People at college now who use any of the Google suite piss me off - especially fucking Slides which is like the Walmart version of PPT. My school literally pays ridiculous amounts for Office 365 and these morons can't even figure out how to share a doc in OneDrive. Yes, I'm a non-target and yes most of the people at my school are idiots (maybe I am too, who knows).
Shit post over.
I grew up using Word 2003 lol.
My school district purchased Windows XP and never reconsidered
When doing papers and other research, it is much easier to switch to another tab on browser (Google Docs) than having to minimize/maximize/split screen between desktop Word and your browser
U ever try Alt + Tab?
I find ppl who use Google Suite so weird. I'm 2002, went to school where they used Microsoft Office, and was taught from like 6 years old in IT to use Times New Roman size 12. Part of the reason i find Arial etc weird too
