Georgetown CAS vs McDonough
I am going to be transferring to Georgetown as a junior transfer. I was wondering if I should apply to Mcdonough school of business or the College of arts and sciences. I am currently a history major, and would like to major in history at Gtown. However, placement at banks is enormously important to me and I would be more than willing to enroll at MSB instead if it significantly increased my chances of getting interviews, offers, etc. How big of a difference in placement is there between the college and the business school? Do alot of Gtown college kids get Wall street offers compared with MSB?

^ You've clearly never worked at any reputable firm on the street. Gtown MSB undergrads are everywhere.
Get into MSB if you can, you'd have a hard time convincing people in IB why transferred and did history when there is a business school.

ivies are a safe bet. so is duke. and uva.
you should try. i know many below-par stats people who got into ivies.
also, is georgetown's environment and culture somewhere and something that you can see yourself spending in for the next 2 years?
Duke didn't have any spots for junior transfers this year, so I can't imagine that's a "safe bet."

I don't exactly see who is "constantly justifying their actions" when someone who doesn't know much, apparently, about this industry, comes up here and posts nonsense about the subject. If you want him to consider Cornell AEM > Georgetown, that also wouldn't be very smart just because it's an "ivy" (and a state school, at that). Look at the 2011 placement statistics of AEM vs. Georgetown (Even CAS, as MSB would blow AEM out of the water) then come back and tell me AEM is still better. More people get S&T/Banking out of CAS GTown than they do Cornell AEM, which is surprising, as it gets hyped up to another degree on this board.

Don't know what I'm assuming, the data is right there for you to find yourself. Cornell AEM admits 50% of applicants. It's a complete joke to get into. You'll be questioning yourself all 2 years of your time there if you go, as you'll be surrounded by community college kids and it will feel more like a state school than an Ivy League school. Georgetown is smaller, harder to get into by a long shot, offers internships during the year, and has a cheap bus service into and out of NYC (~$8/each way) for networking on the weekends. Add to the the D1 basketball and national reputation, you have one of the best universities in the world. Also helps that the campus is beautiful, in a very wealthy area of DC, compared to Cornell's rural location and buildings spread out for miles.

There you have it. ~50% acceptance rate into CALS, plus an articulation agreement allowing anyone who gets a 3.0 at a community college into AEM. Prestigious my ass.

Still not sure what to do here... My GPA would probably be better doing History... I have a 3.9 right now fitnessmodel and am applying to UVA, Georgetown and Northwestern... I feel like I'll probably get in one of them... I'm just trying to understand if it would be better to go to the business school of Gtown vs the CAS.. Looking for more input help me out guys.

You'll be find with History as long as you are able to show a clear interest in Finance on your resume.
