Glaze on evercore

Why are people acting like evercore m&a/rx is the best job out undergrad?? What about all the MF PE or MM HF jobs? Why isn’t this pushed as well? Especially because at the end of the day, I can doubt that the work at evercore is much different from that of other banks…

Evercore M&A and RX are often regarded as top-tier roles for undergraduates due to several factors that make them stand out in the high finance world. Here's why Evercore is frequently hyped:

  1. Compensation: Evercore offers significantly higher pay compared to many other banks. First-year analysts can earn nearly $50k more than their counterparts at some bulge brackets (BBs), and the compensation scales even higher with promotions.

  2. Culture and Work Environment: Evercore is known for its "no facetime" culture, less hierarchical structure, and smaller class sizes (~50 analysts per year nationwide). This fosters a more personal and collaborative experience, with senior professionals forming strong relationships with juniors.

  3. Exit Opportunities: Analysts at Evercore are highly sought after by headhunters for megafund private equity (MF PE), hedge funds (HF), and other buyside roles. The firm’s reputation ensures that analysts are not at a disadvantage when recruiting for traditional exit opportunities. MDs at Evercore are also known to actively vouch for analysts and leverage their connections to assist with exit recruiting.

  4. Deal Flow and Exposure: Evercore provides analysts with exposure to high-profile, front-page WSJ deals. The level of M&A and RX exposure, combined with the ability to work on both execution and industry coverage, is considered superior to what many BBs offer. This differentiated experience is highly valued in the finance industry.

  5. Optionality Beyond Finance: While Evercore is deeply rooted in finance, its brand also offers optionality for those looking to pivot to other industries. For example, some analysts have successfully transitioned to late-stage tech firms like Dropbox.

  6. Perception and Target Schools: Evercore has strong clout at target schools, and its early recruiting process attracts top talent. This creates a cycle where the best students aim for Evercore, reinforcing its reputation as a premier destination.

While MF PE and MM HF roles are undoubtedly prestigious, they are often seen as the next step after a strong foundation in investment banking. Evercore’s analyst program is viewed as a launchpad that opens doors to these opportunities while providing a robust learning experience. Additionally, the work at Evercore is perceived as more engaging and impactful compared to some other banks, making it a highly desirable starting point for a career in finance.

MF-PE / MM-HF analyst programs take a fraction of the amount of analysts that EVR and other top banks take. There are simply way more people who have some incentive to glaze EVR than the other programs you mentioned

its so funny. WSO dictates so much of the hive mind consensus in young kids these days.

Even had a kid recruiting in London acting like EVR is the promised land and was saying they would take it over GS, because of american highschoolers glazing on here
