Previously worked at Goldman. It’s pretty strict to 12 months in current role if you are already in IBD (18 months if not). If you want to switch faster then you will need solid reviews, manager willing to support the move, and people on the other team pushing for you.

I think the general consensus is that GS is famous for its mobility after you finish two years (many people transition groups or even divisions as they transition to associate). With that said, I've seen people make the jump after a year; however, from anecdotes it seems you have to be wary of not coming across poorly to your current team that you want to leave so quickly. Creating a compelling reason to leave a group after less than 12 months and move to a different group at the same firm is challenging, but evidently not impossible.
