Goldman Merchant Banking (RE Private Equity) versus BAML REGL IB group

Not sure of which offer to take for a full-time position after graduation? I know BAML REGL has exits to top PE groups (i.e. Blackstone) after 2 years, but would there be a benefit to going straight into PE within Goldman REPE? Or should I do two years of banking and then wait for other exit ops? I just completed my IB internship my Junior summer.

I would go with BAML REGL. Being in the group, you’ll get looks from all the top real estate funds plus the optionality of switching to a different industry if you found that real estate is not your thing. Starting off on the buyside is too much of a risk

Why would you say starting on the buy side is a risk when the exit is the buy side? Essentially you’re cutting 2 years if you join GS right away. Going to BAML REGL doesn’t mean you’ll get a guaranteed offer to buy side since it’s so competitive.
