Best Laptops For Investment Bankers

Curious what laptop you guys use for IB / finance that you would suggest.

Looking for something that is durable and able to handle large excels, etc. My price range ideally is ~$1,000. I understand that some laptops can be closer to ~$2,000 and am willing to pay up if it’s significantly better performance.

Thanks for the help.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon will be the best one in my opinion, but realistically it's probably overkill.

Some of the Lenovo ThinkPad Yogas aren't too bad. I used a Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 to get me through business school and I liked it. There's a few Dell Pro Plus models that aren't bad either. I'd avoid the HP Probooks. I think they're clunky.

If I were you, I'd go into a BestBuy and check them out in person. Try to hunt online for discounts.

Thanks, this is helpful. Also realizing that since I’ll be using remote / virtual desktop when WFH, having the best processor isn’t needed.

+1 on Lenovo X1 Carbon

I've had my X1 Carbon for ~5 years now and it's super durable, very light, and really built for work. Have had 0 issues. I'd personally buy from Lenovo website when it's on sale so you can customize specs, sometimes they offer steep discounts too. Easily lasts you 5+ years if you want it to.

I also have my work set up with 2 monitors + docking station that is connected to my X1 (personal) and work laptop.
