GPA Impact on IB Recruiting

I'm a Finance major with a Computer Science minor. Kinda got screwed in a couple of CS classes and am at a 3.5 rn. Am I screwed for IB FT recruitment?

Should I take a bunch of easy classes to boost my GPA?

Based on my recruiting experience as well as my knowledge of my peers recruiting, GPA plays a big role, especially in current markets, but it’s not the be all end all.

GPA helps you get in the door for some more elite firms, but if you ace your behaviorals and know your technicals well, you should still get an offer.

I’ve seen people with 3.5 GPAs from semi-targets/targets get into solid BB & MM IBs and some even getting EB.

Just have a good reason why it’s low.

I've seen international students portray it as adjusting to a new academic grading scheme (GPA vs. UK/South America/Asia academic system is different). For Americans who cannot use this reason, having good reasons require an outlier year and clear displays of progress. For example, Freshman Fall was a 3.0 but Spring onwards has been 3.5++. You can also use extracurriculars and learning how to manage workflow as good reasons.

But, if there is no identifiable trend of progress (e.g., 3.3, 3.4, 3.3, 3.5, etc.) I'm not quite sure if any reason would suffice.
