GPA Question
Incoming Analyst preparing for placement and then PE recruiting at a BB shop (ignore title). In college I double majored in Finance/Accounting as well as a STEM degree (keeping anon but physics, chem, math, or stats). I have a 3.7 cumulative but a 3.9 in my STEM degree, which is obvi much more impressive. The way I see it, I have 4 options. I also have a very strong SAT score that I want listed so think it would be obnoxious/take up too much space to list that and both GPAs but lmk advice.
-
List only the STEM GPA on my resume and label it. (Physics Major GPA: 3.9/4.0)
-
List the STEM GPA and don't label it which I see as cheating. (GPA: 3.9/4.0)
-
List both GPAs (Math GPA: 3.9/4.0 Cumulative GPA: 3.7/4.0)
-
List only Cumulative GPA (GPA: 3.7/4.0)
If I was a HH or in charge of placements, I would be damn impressed with a 3.9 STEM GPA. Think you should go with option 1 if including your SAT. They can ask you your cumulative GPA if they want, but the odds of getting an interview with a 3.9 STEM GPA are exponentially higher
If you’re a normal guy, go option 1. Think a 3.9 in Math/Physics/whatever combined with a strong SAT and good social skills would get you an interview almost anywhere you want (assuming you went to a decent school and are in a decent group)
Thanks. Do you think it will raise red flags about why my normal cum. GPA isn't on my resume?
I'd list both. Because as I rifle through resumes, if I see a "Major GPA: [something impressive]", then I immediately think "Ahh, they tanked the rest of their classes because they're trying to hide their real GPA". List both or cumulative.
makes sense. But I also have an extremely strong SAT that I wanted listed as I mentioned above. Do you think it would be hectic to list cum. GPA, Physics/Chem GPA, and SAT?
