GPA rounding on resume
I’ve seen a bit of a disparity in responses with regard to the rounding of one’s gpa on your resume. What are your thoughts? 3.45 becomes a 3.5? Or do you believe that a 3.43 becomes a 3.5 like I’ve seen some people say. I believe that the common sense dictates that any second decimal 5 and above you round up but I’m curious as to other people’s thoughts.
surely, there is no way in hell a 3.43 becomes a 3.5, right? I rounded mine up because it was literally less than a hundredth below the nearest tenth but what I gathered from asking around is to just round your GPA to the nearest hundredth, if at all.
No, I wouldn’t round like that. I would only round the the hundredths place. For example, a 3.956 could be called a 3.96. The only exception to this rule is a 3.999, which would not round to a 4.0, but instead stay at a 3.99
Are we seriously talking about basis point GPA rounding theory? You guys read way too much into this stuff. Use accepted mathematical rounding.
Here is one of the authorities on GPA rounding:

3.45 can be rounded to 3.5, 3.43 cannot.
How the fuck do people ask if 3.43 rounds to a 3.5 still. Might as well just round up to the full 4.0 while you're at it
I honestly would like to see the candidate look me in the eyes and tell me the logic he followed in rounding a 3.43 to 3.5.
You'd be surprised how many people fret about GPA. Transcripts are usually never even checked unless you get an offer and submit. Also if someone forwards you resume and has power you will probably get an interview. I think when people are choose between candidates they interviewed, GPA might come up, but if you were likable in an interview thats key.
Can anyone please reply to my thread btw, it would be super helpful.
