Group quality vs interests

For group placement, should you aim for the “more prestigious” groups with higher deal flow or what you are interested in? Does joining a healthcare team for example (with good deal flow) preclude your chances to do consumer investing later?

I think it depends on when / what you want to exit to.

If you want to go two years and out, I would think deal flow is better. If you want to actually stay in IB, I would think you should stick with your interests.

Further, I can't imagine switching at the analyst level is very difficult, it's all modelling and putting together books. If you try to switch at the MD level, that's probably less likely.
