GS HC or MS (Generalist)

Hey everyone,

I recently received two offers and would love some advice on which path to take.

GS HC

Pros: I’m locked into the Healthcare group right away, so I skip the whole group placement process. I know the dealflow is strong and exits are ok relative to other classic groups.

Cons: I’ve heard some pretty rough stories about the culture specifically in GS HC from alumni who used to work there—things like extreme working hours, intense pressure, and a few unfortunate medical incidents involving both juniors and an intern in the past (sounds like pure exhaustion/stress).

I’m worried about the rumored sweatshop culture and what it might do to my health and overall experience (the stories I’ve heard are pretty brutal).

MS:

Pros: I’ve heard slightly better things about culture (though it can vary by group), opportunity to be placed into MS M&A / groups all tend to be strong.

Cons: I’ll still have to go through the group placement process once I’m there. Networking could help me get into a healthcare or strong M&A team, but there are no guarantees.

I’d really appreciate any firsthand insight! I know both are fantastic opportunities, but I’m torn between guaranteed sector specialization vs. potentially better work-life balance (with the possibility I might not land exactly where I want).

Is it a true 1am or gtfo of the office 1am? I know summer interns still had to work past that but not in office.

You’ll have no problem getting HC at MS through group placement. GS HC group a bit stronger but unsure about exits. Both are great options.

HC is not a super popular group. If you rank it 1 you will 99% get it

Take the one that seems to have hotter guys/girls. They are literally perceived as the same and no one will go look into fucking leagues table.
