GS Healthcare group culture

I received an offer from GS healthcare group in NY and have accepted it. The people I networked with were great but was wondering if anyone has anymore insight on dealflow, culture, hours, etc. Thanks!

Is this post SA or from FT recruiting?

Regardless, one thing I definitely appreciate is finding 2-3 older kids to have your back so to speak / mentor you (analyst/associate) informally or just be really good friends with. Will make a huge difference working though it won’t help when ur getting reamed in the ass you’re getting reamed in the ass. But it goes a long way... honestly I’m starting to see what ‘politics’ mean

My info might be a bit dated, but will share what I know nonetheless.  They merged with CRG a few years back, though I've heard it is now separate again (I believe the Chairman may be chairman of both groups still?).  CRG / Healthcare from a culture perspective have always been up at the top at GS, less face time, relatively better hours (due to less facetime), and slightly warmer personalities, especially compared with what you'll find in FIG and Industrials.  From a deal-flow perspective, the sector is just active, so the group is going to be busy, as is the case at pretty much every BB healthcare group.  It's not a sector that GS dominates by any means, and I think consensus would be that JPM leads by a fair margin in the space (of the BBs), but GS is competitive and will be on a handful of good sized deals each year.  From an analyst perspective, just like in the other groups, recruiting is taboo and has to be done under the radar, but again, slightly better than what you'll find in industrials / fig, where analysts won't even tell their closest friends where they landed a buyside gig for fear of it getting back to the group.
