GS's Salt Lake City Data Resources Group

From my understanding, this group is responsible for doing pretty everything that the regular analysts in NY or SF don't have time to do. Is there any good reasons why this group would be interesting/exciting to work for? Do you get to learn a lot from the group?

Would really appreciate any insight

LLOOOLLL run for the hills unless you are willing to give up your life for the ~chance~ of switching into actual banking at GS. You literally pull numbers from databases and build charts for bankers, and set up external communications to be sent out. Absolutely not the same experience as GS IBD, but many have schemed their way out of DRG into small IB / PE shops or into IB roles at GS (albeit starting at Year 0 in seniority after 3+ years in DRG)

To be fair a normal IB analyst literally pulls numbers from databases and builds charts in excel for bankers as well.  Both are pretty mindless monkey jobs.

IB analysts pull numbers to make the whole picture complete, and they know exactly why they want these numbers / what the purpose of these numbers.  Whereas in DRG, the only thing you do is to pull numbers and you have no clue why you are getting these number.

Yeah it's fine for you to define IB as mindless monkey job. But if that's the case, DRG has to be a mindless mindless monkey job.

Would you take a SA position at DRG over a totally no-name IB boutique in NYC?

Anyone know what the comp is? Base and bonus though I'm assuming there probably won't be any significant/if at all bonus. How is the comp compared to living standards in SLC?
