H1B for International

This post is regarding International Students in the US working in the IB.Few questions:

1) Are you an International student or native citizen?

2) Do IBs sponsor H1B visa as the tech big giants do?

3) Is economics considered a part of STEM by the visa authorites?

4)Taking econ as a major and maths as a minor or vice versa will still be considered under STEM?

5) As onsite recruitements mostly happen at target schools, what are the chances for students at a non target school to get into IB?

6) As what I have heard, IB at analyst level is more about Modelling, valuation and presentations, is there anything else that analysts are supposed to do?

7) What else is better at the target schools than the non target ones which makes the bank to mostly hire from them if IBD is most about skills?

1) Are you an International student or native citizen? - International

2) Do IBs sponsor H1B visa as the tech big giants do? - I believe BB do sponsor F-1 student visa; other MM IB mostly sponsor h1b transfer

3) Is economics considered a part of STEM by the visa authorities? - It varies from school to school. some are and some are not.

4)Taking econ as a major and maths as a minor or vice versa will still be considered under STEM? - I don't think minor counts, but I might be wrong

5) As onsite recruitments mostly happen at target schools, what are the chances for students at a non target school to get into IB? - need to network very hard

6) As I have heard, IB at the analyst level is more about Modelling, valuation and presentations, is there anything else that analysts are supposed to do? - that's basically it

7) What else is better at the target schools than the non target ones which make the bank mostly hire from them if IBD is most about skills? - it's all about the network

By h1b transfer do you mean they were based in another office like hong kong or london and were able to transfer to the US?

I’ve seen a lot of international students on linkedin who are at MMs like Jefferies, RBC etc
