Hartford CT Boutique/MM
I'm currently a junior at a non-target state school in Connecticut, looking for a during the semester internship to keep me involved. With that said, anyone on here ever intern/work/currently work for any of the few boutique/MM IB firms in Hartford, CT? I found a few using the WSO database, as well as from just noticing some in the area.
I can't seem to find many profiles aside from the CEO's on Linkedin from these firms. Hoping someone on here has some experience with these firms.
Thanks
bump
Anyone have friends/family who currently intern/work in the IBD industry in the Hartford County?
No one on an anonymous forum is going to make an introduction for you, especially when you have shown you aren't resourceful enough to make connections on your own.
This took 2 seconds to find: http://www.axial.net/companies/connecticut-investment-banks/2/
It would take ~15 minutes to find a Partner's contact info for each bank on that list, 30 minutes to draft an email, and 10 more to send it out. That's probably around the time it's taken to make an account and write three posts on WSO.
Trader_timmy, none of the firm's I'm interested in are listed on your link. As for being resourceful, I visited a few high rises in my area and pulled firm names from lobby directories.
NOW, I am trying to find out information about these firms (as they are small), and possibly speak to someone about their experience there before I begin cold calling like a maniac.
Thanks anyways.
So you ever find any? Current soph located in Hartford County looking to break in as well lol.
Hartford is an extremely strange market to try and break into during your earlier college years. Most of the firms located in the city are zombie wealth management and advisory shops, meaning they barely run 40 hours a week and are mostly in their end stages, as opposed to growth-stage companies. That being said, I have networked and popped my head into every finance-related firm in the entire city and I have a large comprehensive list of the ones who hire interns and don't, as well as names, numbers, emails etc. I have it all i spent months in this city. I literally used to put on a suit and physically drop off my resume at these places three times a week. PM me if you're still looking or if you see this thread and want some more information.
There are of course your large institutional asset managers: Virtus, Conning, Travelers, etc. Most of the larger hedge funds in Hford were bought out by other companies and are no longer operational (I'm thinking about Aetna rn). Some wealth management shops run like hedge funds and even have equity research internships available.
If you want it bad enough and are willing to suffer you will find an internship in Hartford. It took eight months of cold calls and physical resume drop offs for me to get an offer.
good luck.
