HELP - Worried about HR Problem
Hey, so I just received an offer from a BB for Summer 2020, and I stupidly emailed my HR/pre-employment representative asking if my previous work as a legislative intern would impact my employment/cause any problems during pre-employment screenings. I asked if (given some of the rules around regulatory work before IB work) my unpaid legislative internship would impact my ability to complete onboarding.
As of now, my HR representative has not responded to my emails, and during a brief call we had yesterday, he said "I am unsure whether your work as a legislative intern will impact your employment. I reached out to x team and they have not gotten back to me. It will depend on when your onboarding takes place."
Should I be worried? Did I freak my HR representative out, or is this pretty typical? Is there any chance I could get my offer revoked just by asking dumb questions to my HR rep, or is there a chance the emails I sent him would make them reconsider my candidacy?
As a bit of background--there are no other issues in my application, I have a lot of solid references, and I have signed an employment contract and sent in my transcript. Do I have any reason to be worried right now/should I reach out to my contacts at the firm to talk to them about this?
It might be worth it to reach out to the HR rep. Not really sure though.
OP you are a champion my friend. How does the below sound to you?
"Hey Mr. HR sir, thank you for the offer for my internship next summer - hopefully the investigation last year into the bag of powder in my house which did not belong to me when the FBI kicked the door down wouldn't impact my employment. Right? Right? "
