How are referrals identified?
For example, let's say an MD refers you. Does HR use your email or your resume to identify you? What if you make an update to your resume or apply with a different email?

I read on another thread that you have a note attached to your name which identifies who referred you so that everyone on the interviewing team would know during superdays
But how is the initial identification made? Like when they first send your resume to HR?
I've had contacts refer me without forwarding resumes (they just need to send an email to HR or to the staffer leading the recruiting effort)
