How can I move into Middle Office? 3.4 GPA Business Major, SUNY School

I've been struggling to secure any interviews at banks/ consulting firms. I've applied to nearly all of the ones on Vault for summer analyst internships and full-time analyst roles. I'm primarily looking in NYC but am open to relocating.

About myself, I'm a recent graduate with 3.4 GPA B.A. in Business Management major from SUNY Albany. I have 1.5 years of internship experience in the back office in payroll/hr at a consulting firm.

Back office work was really boring and I felt that I was underpaid. I've applied online with no success. I've reached out to alumni, but no one has helped. My SUNY career services people are stumped as to why I'm not getting jobs in banking. I've gone to Financial Services staffing firms and they are confident they can place me but the contracts will pay the same as my internship in HR. No one has placed me yet.

I may not be the best looking or most social person but I got a 2100 on my SAT, I'm a smart person and I have work ethic and think I have potential.

What am I doing wrong? What can I do to make myself more attractive for middle office/ front office roles? Should I take out more loans to do a MsF?
