How do you build intuition for what financial metrics actually mean?
I recently accepted a Summer 2027 offer and have started reading company financials to prepare. I understand the definitions of metrics like revenue growth, EBITDA, margins, and debt, but I struggle to interpret what they actually mean in context. For example, if I see that a company generated $2.6 billion of EBITDA, I don't know whether that's strong or weak, what it says about the business, or what questions I should be asking next. How would you recommend building the intuition to contextualize financial metrics and understand what they imply about a company's quality, growth prospects, and investment story?
