How long should I wait until I follow up again after someone referred my resume to the recruiter

Hi guys,

I am currently working at a boutique investment banking located in Toronto. I've been networking pretty hard for the past five months and I came across an MD who was willing to grab a coffee with me. He works at one of the Canadian BB banks here. The conversation went well and I kept in touch with him for months. About a week ago, a position at his group opened up. He referred my resume to the associates. However, I haven't received anything after waiting for 8 business days. The job posting has already been closed online which means they are not looking for more resumes to come in to start the interview process. For those of you who have experienced this before, should I wait for another week to follow up or should I reach out to him right away?

Excuse my poor writing since I'm typing this on my phone while getting my morning coffee.

Thanks in advance, any pearls of wisdom are much appreciated.
