How many hours are you currently working?
Interested in this, deal activity is down I could not believe the recent GS article. What are you guys working on? (Also note BB/EB/MM)
It’s very slow in my group right now

Very slow given year end and the holidays coming up. I'd also be curious to hear about deal pipeline for Q1/Q2 next year. Are any of your groups expecting things to pick up meaningfully?
My group primarily does LMM-MM M&A and we've been largely dead for the last two months. Still closing some deals, but we expect it to pick up in late Q1.
As for now, I'm enjoying my 45-55 hour weeks.
an 1 in industrials at ubs/db/citi/bofa nyc doing 40-50 hours , seems suspicious lol
120 last week
Where at?
60-70
20-30 hours a week, bing chillin
Holy shit lmao wtf do u even do once u finish work? I find it harder to pretend to be busy
I’ve gotten extremely efficient at my work and have a 1st year staffed with me who can handle tedious stuff. I’m usually gaming or sth at my laptop, so i can still respond immediately and appear responsive as that’s the most important thing
80-90
Where? And doing what
Probably 65 this week but averaged 90-100 every week in November. Analyst in Healthcare MM group
20-30 last 2 weeks (BB M&A) but kicking off a new deal Monday that’s going to be a sprint for the next 4 weeks
20-30
Just an intern (since august) but currently working 85-100 hours / week, a lot of pitching and meeting materials. Only 1 live deal
Bare in mind I'm much slower than a analyst however, not sure what it would translate to for you full-timers :)
Are you in school rn pulling that many hours? and is that UK?
It's in Sweden, I've skipped some classes this semester but will get roughly 50% done. Hasn't been easy but I'm glad I did it
Also situated in Sweden and those are some insane hours for being in Stockholm, even in a good market environment. Mind stating which bank? Citi is the only bank I can think of in Stockholm doing long-term internships.
Would rather than mention which bank. I’ve done two internships this fall so it’s not a long-term program. The first bank was much lighter.
Ye it’s kinda crazy, I think it’s mostly because I never get staffed with an analyst. It’s just me, associate, VP and the MDs. I.e I’ve had the same deliverables as an analyst but I’m simply much much slower, add 2-3 of those projects and it adds up to a lot of hours unfortunately
10 hours total in the last 4 weeks… my group is a total “sweatshop” according to the forums but somehow been coasting under the radar and enjoying the free time during holidays
At JEF and have been clocking 40 hours in office a week for the past month… probably only really working about 10-20.
O&G shop 80-100 hrs…..this is not sustainable
Houston?
Same and in Houston… not enough competent juniors so its been pretty unsustainable
Energy boutique?
Got my dog shite comp numbers earlier this week, went home and haven’t opened my laptop since lol. Getting interviews lined up before Christmas
Where?
Lateral analyst positions? Who's hiring rn if you don't mind me asking?
Levfin and probably 20-30 hours of actual work a week on average lol. Might work a bit longer occasionally when a deal heats up a bit but just chilling most of the time atm. Kinda bored in the office ngl
Not IB but in terms of actual work with near-term deliverables? 30-40hrs. I've been supplementing with maybe another 5-10 hrs of other side projects / work that I know is going to become a PITA if I push it off until the new year. Admin shit, updating resume, etc.
Far fewer hours than typical that's for sure.
110
Interning at a UMM PE fund. Been pulling 55-60 hours a week lately. Not really busy at all though. Mostly sitting around waiting for tasks and then end up getting a task at 8 pm that takes a couple of hours to complete. Several of my VPs have been coming in at 10 and leaving at 5 the last few weeks.
LevFin at BB. I did ~60 hours last two weeks (companies trying to do stuff before year end) but prior to that I probably did 30-40 hours
MM PE AN1 - worked ~21 days straight including late nights and weekends. Heavy deal flow (highly fragmented industry), MD’s pushing ridiculously tight time lines and a cap raise at the same time. I’m ready for a weekend
VP2, 70-80 including an all-nighter in the past few weeks. Sucks. There was a slow 2 months in Q3 but this year on the whole has been 70-80 on average
What group?
Vp here. 0 work. Really just jumping on calls and facilitating. Takes up roughly 30-40 hours
N2 in a coverage group, been averaging about 60-70 hours a week lately.
Mostly busy on live M&A processes and some pitches as MD's want to get in front of clients ahead of the holidays. Expect things to quiet down a bit post next week.
Definitely busier than some of the other groups at Citi right now, which I guess is a good thing all things considered.
100 hours. Bulge bracket FIG. Non deal work….
