How much better is it making money in IB than being a broke/sad in undergrad?

It’s gotta be 10x better not having to do bullshit assignments and exams and being poor as fuck, how much better is it getting a $2,700 pay check every two weeks… right out of school.

Granted you’ll be working a fuck ton of hours and have a douchey associate, VP, or MD. But how nice is that damn bread

If you're hoping it cures depression, it indeed does not.

If you're hoping you'll be working on things more stimulating than the problem sets you do in undergrad, you're still out of luck. It wont provide that either.

Financial independence is nice, but also, that $2,700 paycheck goes straight to rent and the other monthly paycheck to Uber(Eat)s, overpriced coffee and overpriced booze. Chicks also outgrow their slutty college phase and the average expenditure per getting laid equation gets worse on both sides of the scale (not a lot of $1 shot options outside of college bars).

I actually agree with you in that money DOES SUBSTANTIALLY improve happiness. I think you're lying to yourself or come from a privledged background if you think otherwise...BUT what you are missing here is that the analyst pay is honestly not shit even with these new "raises." Costs of living is just out of damn control these days and it really doesn't feel great trying to just live off your base even if you will theoretically get a bonus in X amount of months IF you can make it that long...which as you can see lately many on here are NOT.

Is it damn food stamps and struggling for a meal? No. But when you are slaving away for so long and saving so little extra until you make it to the magical bonus, it's damn disheartening
