How much did you save after your two years in IBD?
Hi all,
Currently a second year analyst and was curious about how much people saved after their two year analyst stint in IBD? I was talking to my friends who were saying ridiculously high amounts ($200,000+) and just wanted to benchmark.
Thank you all!
Comparison is the thief of happiness…who gives a fuck what they’ve saved. You don’t know their situations, and everybody’s is different. For all you know these kids got very generous Christmas presents from mommy and daddy, meanwhile tha analyst at the desk next door may be sending money back to his ‘rent each week.
Focus on yourself and your career and the money will eventually come.
This. You're 24/25, you have years of earning to go. Even the most spendy analysts usually have ~50-70k saved after 2 years which is more than many people your age could make in that time.
$200k+ (pre raises) sounds like top bucket at an EB spending frugally, or parents helping out, so I wouldn't say that's the benchmark at all
Bump
About $350k although that was helped by the strong equity market and utilising tax-advantaged retirement accounts.
These are some ridiculous numbers - congrats guys!
I was an analyst many years back but I certainly wasn’t anywhere close, even adjusting for inflation and hikes.
