How to best prep for SA experience
I'll be returning home from a pretty relaxing semester abroad in Europe and will have a month and a half to prep for my summer analyst gig. I know I'm "out of shape". Anyone have any recommendations for good Excel courses or books I should read to make the most of these 6 weeks? Should I brush up on technicals, too?
Basically, how can I best use this time to my advantage to hit the ground running in June? Any and all advice appreciated.
If you're a finance student, I wouldn't bother doing anything. Go to the gym, hang out with friends and relax. If you haven't done much coursework in finance, perhaps you can pick up a valuation book or go through the Macabacus models. Could be a good idea to read up about the industry as well if you're in coverage.
This.
There is no prep needed for SA or FT. Whatever the bank wants you to know, they'll teach you in training. Remember, a decade ago most bankers were Ivy League liberal arts majors. Banks naturally spend several hundred thousand dollars on training every year.
