How to deal with Managing Analyst?
Do any of you guys have a Managing Analyst on your team?
What is a Managing Analyst, you might ask? Well, a MA is an analyst who genuinely believes him/herself to be the MD - usually a Strategic Communications/PR/Marketing/Psych(o) chick who somehow got hired into banking. Yes, you guessed it, the one who is all about empowering women and spreading the good word of how there is not enough women in leadership roles.
She has no technical skills, knowledge, interest in learning, or relevant experience. She does not do any actual work, but is rather more preoccupied with mimicking the Managing Director and micromanaging everyone around - mostly with things like hmmmm I don't love this slide, why don't you move this logo .25" to the left or hmmmm let's change the rgb value on this background again. At this point you might be thinking, "what are you, a pussy? Shut that shit down". Well, a MA is often closely related to the MD (or her mouth is closely related to the MD's dick), therefore, any attempt at doing so will result in HR involvement over a variety of accusations and the label of "Analyst XYZ can't work well on a team, isn't a good cultural fit, and lacks communication skills!" Of course, you might as well kiss that bonus goodbye.
Has anyone else experienced this?
I usually wait for nature to run it's course and for people to notice the MA's don't know anything.
My friend handled it better though - banged the MA and told everyone about it. MD lost interest in her soon after, cause you know, he didn't want an analyst's sloppy seconds
