Just find it embarrassing every time I tell someone where I work. Any tips on getting around the lack of prestige?

Bro, no girl gives a flying fuck where you work when you initially meet her. She makes the decision of whether she will friendzone you or fuck you within a span of minutes, if not seconds. Why not work on honing your social skills to be smoother in approaching girls at the club or bar rather than trying to figure out how to inflate your line of work. I found out the hard way that girls don't even know what finance is, lol, nor do they care. Show her something material that instantly, without speaking about it or needing to flash it in her face, invokes a symbol of prestige. Maybe a Rolex, a fancy car, buying her a drink.
I personally wouldn't do any of the above because I don't to focus on impressing others and find fulfillment through being content I know I am working in a stressful but rewarding job.
I doubt the average person knows MM is a "lower prestige bank," unless she works in finance, she probably won't know the ranking. If you say you work in finance, that will probably be impressive enough for most girls
There is just no way girls at the club can distinguish between Moelis & Co or Baird/Harris Williams. What he's saying is introduce whatever firm you work at as a "boutique investment bank" instead of saying mid-market. Would almost argue that a name she hasn't heard of will sound a lot better than Citi/BofA because she'll assume you work in commercial or something.
Say you're an accountant, because that's basically what middle market "bankers" are anyway.

Dude is this for real. Most girls if you tell them you work at Citi, JPM, BofA, or whatever other BB w/ a retail arm probably think you're only a step up from being a bank teller anyways. Do you really think most laypeople know the difference between Qatalyst, Stifel, Lazard, Baird, Blair, Houlihan, etc.? Pretty sure the answer is no.
