"thecoolkid1234" Get a 4.0 and try to transfer to a target. And no don't think about Oxford

100% correct. Do anything and I mean anything to get perfect grades and transfer to a target. On top of that, and this is going to hurt, even if it takes you an extra year to graduate from said target school, it's worth it.

IMHO Oxford is a death sentence. You want to come out of undergrad in the UK with basically 0 IBs who will be recruiting there for US jobs? You will have to do ALL the legwork yourself, and even have fewer alumni to potentially network with in roles that could help you with an internship/job. And unless you have a UK/EU passport, forget your dream of working in London straight out of school. Even so, in my opinion London has a black cross over it in terms of banking and the market will get only tighter in coming years. Due to Brexit, several banks are moving jobs to Frankfurt, so double the competitiveness for London. That great migration is already underway and will be long settled before you'd graduate. (This view is coming from someone who studied in US and worked entire professional career in Switzerland and UK)

Thank you so much. I really appreciate someone with your experience helping me out.

Regarding transferring, would it be worth it even if it were Georgetown? Cornell CAS? Or should I be gunning only for upper tier ivy?

Also, what are your thoughts on applying Penn CAS vs. Wharton; do you have any knowledge of the OCR at CAS? I seem to find conflicting responses from others.

Does the death sentence regarding Oxford remain true for consulting e.g. McKinsey, etc.?

Thanks again.

Just transfer or really network well with MM and EBs. Some will just not accept anybody from non target. I've found though many are willing to give you a shot, at least here in Boston.

I don't know about NYC.

It's a weird divide. In the general public people view it as elite, but to everyone here it's shit; this leads me to believe this is how it'll be in the industry as well. :/

First off you didn't mess up, so relax. Just focus on getting good grades for your freshman year. You haven't even gone to the school yet, you don't know how you like the school, how the recruiting is or anything like that. I went to a non-target and did well and the school ended up sending 5 kids, including myself, IB at either BB, MM, or EB shops. You're a freshman, ace the easy classes and drink a few beers and chill out.

This made me laugh, and the title is perhaps overdramatic.

It honestly does feel like a big deal to me though, seeing how many doors are open to HYPSW and knowing I will probably never experience similar opportunities coming out of undergrad.

This did make me feel better though, so thanks.
