IB A2A -> MBA?

I've seen plenty of posts about using the MBA to break into IB, but was wondering if others have gone directly from IB to a top MBA program for a career pivot/break? For some background, I went to a semi-target school and have been on the same team (capital markets) for about 3.5 years. I like what I'm doing currently and don't feel a huge rush to move, but at the same time I'm not sure if I see myself doing banking for the rest of my career. I like my current team and the work I'm doing, but at times IB feels like such a drag. I hate not having much insight into my schedule (hasn't changed much after becoming an associate), and all of the unnecessary file drills (which often amount to nothing) have been taking a toll on me.

I'm starting to see people in my undergrad class starting MBA programs (granted they are not coming from banking), and am weighing applying during for the next cycle in fall 2025. I'm not 100% sure what I would want to pursue yet post-MBA, but would be interested in Corporate Strategy / Strategy Finance / VC / some other finance role that is less demanding and unpredictable than IB.

The main thing holding me back is the opportunity cost and financial burden associated with the MBA. I have always loved learning and enjoy being in school, and I think I'd benefit from the great network / resources available - it would be a dream to attend a top program. However, I am hesitant to spend a good chunk of my hard-earned money on such program, where it's likely that my salary post-MBA may be lower than what I'm earning now. Though maybe it is worth it, if I do find a job that is more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Any advice would be much appreciated!
