IB After ROTC (Target)
Hello. I am a current HS senior from the deep south and have been on WSO in one way or another since eighth grade. I was accepted ED into a top 15 undergrad college (think Dartmouth, Cornell, Duke) and have a full ROTC scholarship; I am looking at majoring in the usual -- econ with math or something else. What will the road to IB look like for me after my four year service commitment? Will an army background provide any benefits?
Also, please ignore my profile. I created that a few years ago when I was just looking around
"Top Target" is a presumptuous statement. It's a bit of an exaggeration
just trying to separate from other targets like UVA, etc; I know full well it is not on par with Harvard/Wharton
I'm not sure how recruiting for IB at 26 would be. I do know that many people do an MBA following their service and end up coming in as Associates. Pros and cons to each possible route.
You will have a difficult time going directly into IB after your four years of service. 99.99% chance that you will need to go to your MBA after you EAS.
I’ve met one guy who was an IB analyst who didn’t take the veteran traditional route (recruited from undergrad/ B school). He was a former SEAL officer who was getting his exec MBA from Wharton. So, that’s the bar you’re looking to beat if you want to skip your MBA.
what are you doing on wso in the 8th grade?
wanted a compensation report... dont ask why
The people commenting here clearly are not vets. You will have tons of opportunity to recruit after 4 years in service with a strong educational pedigree. Be sure to check out the plethora of veterans initiatives such as the ones at GS and Guggenheim. Banks love smart veterans because they are a self-selecting group that is able to handle fast paced, high stress, and exhausting work. If you leverage your background correctly, you will not have an issue landing interviews regardless of your age.
