IB arm at Alvarez & Marsal?
Have anyone heard about the team? Better question is, is it worth joining it? I am not sure what the exit options gonna be like. Just not sure how those smaller less renowned IB teams are treated out in the world.
Thank you for your time
Hey activatecard, I swear if I had a silver banana for every lonely thread I posted too I'd be richer than @compbanker ...
More suggestions...
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.

As far as I know Alvarez & Marsal do not have an investment banking division. They have a restructuring consulting division, which works with RX banks but in it of itself is not an RX bank.
There is an IB arm that works on RX/SS type deals. Don't know much of it though since RX Consulting (as you mentioned) is the bread and butter. You can find people on LinkedIn who do IB there.
I interviewed for the IB arm - did a 12 hour modeling test with them as well
can you share more insights on the modeling test?
they give you a 10k, and you create a 3 statement from scratch along with a debt schedule
M&A and divestments etc often come up as part of the RX process
Thus, firms like D&P, A&M, FTI etc. sort of do M&A advisory
Would be surprised if it’s fully split into like ‘IB’ vs ‘Consulting’ arms. Probably just some vague groups that focus more on the M&A side.
Your experience will be nothing like banking tbh
I am familiar with the group and this is totally incorrect, but thanks for sharing your opinion
Why is the comment above yours incorrect?
Familiar with the group. They are a registered broker-dealer that is run independently from the rest of the restructuring practice at A&M.It's a fairly small team but focused on IB advisory work for Rx and SS M&A deals. Focused primarily on MM and compete with the familiar names in the Rx IB space.
Any ideas on Comp?
Hey are they doing SA interviews?
Anyone know the email format?
PM me

Anybody have any more info on the group? Unable to find any recent deals that the division has worked on/unable to differentiate whether they worked on some deals or A&Ms RX consulting arm? How would you compare it to an M&A group at an EB?
did you eventually mange to find out anything? I have the same questions
Heard of it but A&M Rx is still considered the firm's crown jewel. Their bonuses can be significantly higher than the other teams.
Anyone know what comp is like for the IB group? Base is lower than street IB roles so assume bonus might make up for it but unsure... Any insights?
Yes I worked there for 1-2 years, it's basically restructuring investment banking (similar to Moelis, Rothschild, etc) but on a smaller scale focusing mainly on the LMM. Comp was reasonable, hours were slightly below average for IB.
This was all a while back I should preface maybe things changed.
