IB Behind US Airways / American Airlines Merger?

Does anyone know the IBs behind the US Airways / American Airlines merger? I've searched the internet but cannot find anything. Do any of you insiders know the associated parties? I'd imagine it would have to be BBs on both sides? Thanks.

i know Lazard has been advising AMR...bunch of out banks on the creditor comittee. Should beinteresting because US Air pilots are going to get a 30% raise since they are paid 30% below AMR pilots now...AMR unions also just signed a new contract which entitles them to a big raise. The are probably getting rid of American Eagle they lose a huge amount of cash on the flights. The new company will still be American.

porkbelliesRothschild is handling the restructuring

Should have expected these usual suspects on the AMR bankruptcy. Thanks for the great color on the contracts and American Eagle.

About a year ago, WSJ reported that Millstein and Barclays were advising LCC. Are they still in on this? Citigroup and MS have also had good relationships with LCC in the past, but don't know whether they are involved in this deal.

Also wonder whether GS has a role here. Was very interesting to see GS balancing conflicts last year while it was advising DAL on a potential DAL/AMR merger despite its position as a major AMR creditor...

Is this the merger Richard Branson's always complaining about?

"Yes. Money has been a little bit tight lately, but at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I gonna be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm gonna be thinking about how many friends I have and my children and my comedy albums."

xxkdjxxThis has been in the works for a long time. I read about US Airways and American Airlines merging about two years ago.

Nobody is claiming this is a new deal. But back when US first approached AA in April 2012, AA basically ignored them entirely. The point is that in the past few days, the perceived likelihood of the merger actually happening has increased significantly, and an official announcement could be next week.

peinvestor2012Does this mean no more United Miles on US Airways? Bummer.

Most likely. If the merger happens, US will leave Star Alliance and the combined US/AA entity will be in oneworld.

xxkdjxxAmerican Airlines fucking sucks. Never fly AA; always fly with JetBlue.

Considering JetBlue has 3 destinations outside North America (and they are all in Colombia), good luck with international travel. Also, good luck getting free upgrades to first or business class.

This. I know people bash on AA but I never have a problem with them and I fly every week. Granted I live in a hub city and their planes are shitty, but I get on flights for transportation, not to have a world class meal or be spoiled.

Have flown all three fairly regularly (keep switching depending on current city). Delta has the best upgrades IMO. I get upgrades to at least Business on probably 1 out of every 2 or 3 flights, and I'm not even a platinum member.

Also Delta has the best customer service. AA's is ok and were very polite and helpful with a few issues I had and with reimbursements.

United/Continental was just a shit show. Maybe they got their shit together now, but they were struggling for years with customer service and systems.
