IB exit opps - FoF vs Corp Dev, best work WLB. Help!

Currently sitting on two offers (one from Corp Dev at a tech company) and a FoF (think Ardian, HarbourVest etc.)...

In terms of exit opps and WLB/comp, what would be the right choice?

I heard Corp Dev = a pay wall as it is hard to get to C-Suite. Thoughts?

It would be more primaries (I hear the more qualitative side)…although I am not sure which career FoF or Corp Dev would stack up better in the long term...they are all a paycut from IB but trying to still set myself for a 300k 40-50 hour WLB down

spent 1 year+ in O&G Corp dev and it was literally 9 to 6 facetime and i had time for the gym in the afternoon.

but yes, you'll only be promoted when your senior leaves so get ready to be an associate for like 3 years and then VP forever until the director leaves or the business increase.

also thought i would share that I was scared that i would be redundant after 3+ years (if no M&A activity), but that might be not be relevant if you're in a huge ass company (my company was only 1 to 2bn USD Mkt cap thereabouts)

Comp was definitely below market materially, but then again, there were days i barely worked.

O&G was fucked given covid (our company sold jet fuel in some areas and operated in more funky geographies), got retrenched. Moved to MM M&A sell side with lower hours and lower pay vs BB because i thought covid will fuck the economy. guess i was wrong, have been getting calls to interview constantly now and tbh, not so sure if i want to slog it out in BB.

Bumping. Interested in comp, career flexibility, and what the day to day looks like in a FoF shop.
