IB recruiting portfolio project

Helping a friend targeting IB build something beyond the usual "I built a DCF" portfolio piece. Want opinions from people who sit across the table.

You feed it a portfolio and it does the full research workflow. It pulls every SEC filing and earnings call transcript, breaks down fundamentals like business model, revenue drivers, competitive moat, switching costs, market penetration and maps the competitive landscape, and evaluates management quality and track record. Then it pattern-matches each company against ~28,000 historical filings to find structural analogs and tells you what happened to those companies afterward. It monitors EDGAR for new filings and pushes weekly reviews that flag what changed and why it matters.

You interact with it through a Telegram bot on your phone. You can ask it questions, push back on its reasoning, and it defends or revises its position citing specific filing sections. It just shows you patterns and context. You're still the one making decisions, just more informed ones.

For those in recruiting, would you want to hear about this in an interview, or does it read as over-engineered for IB vs quant? What about in four years when he graduates? Is that the direction IB is moving?

Not promoting anything, system isn't public. Happy to answer questions.
