IB "research" analyst
Hey guys...
was wondering if anyone has heard of a "research analyst" in Investment Banking... I don't mean ER but more of a support role for bankers in the IB department I saw this while over in asia for BB places like GS/MS, as well as boutiques in the US Is this role in between a SA and 1st year analyst?
thanks
i ve seen this as well. this is basically a support position. it's not on the same track as analysts in IB
I've seen it at an IB office in PRC... it's more like a middle-office position. I've also seen it at PE and REPE firms here...
^I think it's particularly important in China, because the different in pay between front office people (global pay) and middle/back office people (Chinese pay) is way, way higher than usual... I know at one of the REPE firms I'm thinking of that it's like the associates get paid 120k usd / year or whatever (not sure, but something along those lines) and the research analysts/associates that do the market research get paid 8,000 rmb a month... so like 16k usd / year (note that 8k rmb a month is a very high salary for a recent graduate though)
this is more like a BA role where you support the analyst in finding research or fixing ppt. However, banks sometimes promote these "RA"s after 1 -2 years. This role is ideal for those who cannot break into banking but wanna get their foot in the door (assuming there's a mutual understanding that there is promotion possibility)
thanks for the replies...
do you guys have any info on pay/hours in the US? Both BB and boutiques?
thanks again
