IB vs consulting

I am a recent freshman at a semi/target in Texas. I am majoring in Finance, and have always had my sights set on IB. Recently I have learned a lot about consulting, and wanted some opinions. In my mind, I feel like I could handle the first rough few years in banking. I understand that imagining what it’s like and actually doing it are two different things. I would like to go for the highest comp possible, but it seems like consulting has some enticing offers, such as travel, more interesting work. I personally don’t care about the work, but the Travel sounds like it could be nice until it gets old. Also WLB is slightly better. In IB there is higher barrier to entry, more pay at every level, but more intense hours. Why would someone pick consulting over IB (if they had the ability to break into IB).
