If I Already Have a S79, Will I Really Have to Get a S7 Upon Lateraling?

Hey all, looking to lateral after spending 3 years at a boutique in NYC. I’ve got my S69, S79 and SIE but I’ve noticed some firms list a Series 7 along with the 63 and 79 in the requirements. Just curious if anyone has any experience in this - will I really have to get my Series 7 for another IB role or should my current licenses suffice? I feel like some people may require Series 7 for people getting licensed through the firm but wouldn’t force you to get it if you lateral in with your 79.

They allow for different capabilities, so I’d guess yes. My associates had to get their 7 when they became an associate and had the 79 among others when they were analysts

Ughghghghg. What exactly does the 7 allow for that the 79 doesn’t as it pertains to IB? Looks like even some of the MDs at firms I’ve been looking at don’t have the 7 so I’m still hopeful lol.
