IFC exit opps (Energy/Infra)

Seeking advice on exit opportunities after 2+ years as Investment Analyst at IFC, with a focus on energy/infrastructure in emerging markets (mostly debt). Specifically, how realistic are the following transitions:

  1. Moving to an EM DCM role at a bulge bracket bank: Is this a possible move with a background in energy/infra investments? What steps would be needed to make this transition successful?

  2. Shifting to an energy-focused private equity fund: Do these funds value IFC experience and emerging markets exposure? Any recommendations on which funds to target?

Looking forward to any insights or advice.

I'll be honest, based on past interactions with IFC guys, the juniors mostly go do their MBA for an exit or to continue on with IFC while the seniors just coast.

Funds don't really treasure IFC experience as, based on my experience, they mostly see them as paper pushers and corporate politicians who benefit from the IFC name and just go along with the flow during co-investments with no commercial acumen etc. I haven't seen anyone who went into IFC and went into BB or a MF thereafter - might be wrong here. (edit: to be clear, there are people who went BB -> IFC -> back to their BB)

Maybe try impact investing or some ESG fund

This is coming from a guy who used to dream about joining IFC but got very disillusioned when talking to some IFC staff and friends who worked with IFC people - I have interviewed with IFC AMC and IFC themselves.
