Imperial Msc Finance & Accounting vs HEC MiM - for London IB
Hi All,
I am currently sitting on an offer from Imperial for their MSc Finance and Accounting program and have my interview for HEC MiM next week. In the best case scenario, I have to choose between both programmes. I am an international from Latin America (I speak fluent Spanish) with UK citizenship and aim to work in London IB.
I know the Imperial programme is OK in London, considering it is not the flagship MSc Finance, but it is still good for Imperial brand name. On the other hand, HEC MiM is excellent in europe + 2/3 years to build CV but not the MiF.
Since I have the right to work in the UK, would HEC MiM be better? I heard Imperial MSc F&A is second tier compared to other London targets.
Context - I went to Russell Group Uni for undergrad and worked for 1 year at a London trading house as an investment analyst (focused on O&G + infra M&A), currently doing a VC internship and am edging close to landing a PE/GE at a small firm in London for this summer - have been wanting to get some technology investment experience.
Any advice is welcome.
Both are comparable because HEC's MiM is not their flagship finance course. If it was their MiF then it would be a clear answer to go to HEC. Here, I would still probably give the edge to HEC because it's just more renowned as a target Master's university for finance, especially on the buy-side
HEC's flagship program is the MiM, much harder to get into and much better placement. MiF appears to have an edge for London but it's just because people in MiM want to stay in France after
Wrong, although both are great programs. MIF though is better
Source? Have many french friends and internationals at HEC and they all agree. MiM is considerably harder to get into for the locals. As I said, MiF has an edge in London IB simply because the french in MiM want to stay in Paris. MiM placement has been and continues to be outstanding
Both are great options. As a non-French I'd pick Imperial as it's more of a global brand and would have a slight edge in London compared to HEC (location advantage, network advantage)
Nah this is false. HEC is better regarded for MSc and the company will just expense your trips to interviews from Paris. Networking is done virtually most of the time through my experience anyway. Difference is pretty marginal though
