“Incoming analyst”
Does anyone else think this is completely ridiculous? At first I thought yes, everyone secretly agrees the people who make their title "incoming X" or make some long post pretending to be humble but actually bragging are insecure and look like idiots. But I will see countless, respectable people like and comment on these posts saying "congrats Johnny! Well earned, can't wait for you to join us this summer!!" Do most people accept this behavior now??

Is it to network and recruit now a days too. I never did it, but I assumed that with the recruiting process being so far ahead it kind of makes sense.
Updated mine and had two HHs reach out for two pe and l/s roles before my senior year of college started. Ofc I didn’t reneg and the funds weren’t the most reputable but still food for thought. Poaching incoming analysts to the buyside is becoming a thing
For me changing the title is fine. The posts are unforgivable.

In all seriousness, it’s glorified bragging rights to their classmates. Annoying? Yes. But that’s about as far as I’d take it.
Tbh it’s just social media. The kids in college nowadays grew up with it, and are used to sharing aspects of their life with others online. Using LinkedIn to share updates about their career to their followers/connections has become the norm now. I don’t think it’s that weird
