Incoming London SA, where to live ?
Hi guys,
Incoming 2022 London SA from continental Europe here. I never went to the London and my firm's HQ are in Canary Wharf.
I was wondering which neighbourhoods should I focus my researches on ? I assume I'll work a lot but would still like not to live in an utterly dead neighbourhood on evenings/weekends.
What would be your recommandations considering flat location price/neighbourhood attraction ?
Thanks a lot!

Canning Town, North Greenwich, London Bridge. These three areas are well connected to CW and have lots of stuff going on (London Bridge especially of course).
Many people might choose to live within CW/Isle of Dogs but the area is ghost town during weekends. Good thing though - CW is extremely well developed and civilized compared to the rest of London
There's been a million threads like this recently, do a quick Google, extensive answers have been given.
Honestly though as an SA, your issue is going to be supply. Renting for 2 months is not as simple as renting for 12+ months. Rent is higher, availability of apartments is lower.
My 2cents: you're gonna be there for just 10 weeks and need to do everything in your power to get that return offer. Just find a room in CW as close to the office, better to save time during the week and commute to the center during the weekend than the other way around.
Echo this, with people hitting their desks between 9-10am (still good to be one of the first ones in your team, tho), you can easily sleep until 8.30-9am living in CW. Only thing you should keep in mind is to not go too far in the South Bank direction. Your commute shouldn't take longer than 15mins walking. Would suggest you go for one of those big residential buildings (Wardian, Landmark, albeit that they are on the higher end) which have gyms and often weekly cleaning. Commuting back from Chelsea, Kensington etc. can be painful on the weekends after a night out with the tube but with a London IB SA salary, you can easily afford an Uber.
A lot of helpful answers already on here. Can anybody shed light on EBs, BBs, MMs that are located in the centre? Think Mayfair, Soho, Liverpool Street?
They pretty much all are... you'd be much better off considering which one's arent (HSBC, Barclays, JPM, CS, Citi, MS are all in CW).
Thanks for your answer, which areas would be best to live in for those (non-CW) shops?
